For those who didn't like it don't appreciate this kind of film. I had to keep rewinding, thinking I missed something, but the movie just jumped around. A complete waste.

It tells a really good story which is kinda lacking in the reboot-remake Hollywood generation. A romantic getaway for two troubled college sweethearts turns into a struggle for survival when unexpected guests - and the surrounding environment - exhibit signs of a mysterious infection. Hauntingly beautiful movie. If you're not into subtle slow burn movies, and you consider Marvel movies to be masterpieces this may not be for you. Tom rents a cabin on a secluded lake marked by a local legend of a lovelorn spirit who haunts the surrounding woods and drowns anyone she encounters. Her performance as Nina is equal bits charming, dark and strangely sweet.

Some of the other reviews covering the origins of sirens and resulki (sp) are actually more entertaining than the storyline was. A pair of comic book writers begin to notice scary similarities between the character they created and horrific real-life events. Choosing to make one character openly gay and the other a strict Christian and having them form a friendship means something in the world we live in, but in the world of this film, it only serves as set dressing to give the illusion of well-roundedness.
