Thank You for this Great Lens (book review) about the book "The Mysterious Island" by Jules Verne. The most noticeable thing is that Verne hypes up his characters in very dramatic terms. Although I liked it overall, I didn't rate it as highly as my Goodreads friend Bruce recently did. Sparr and Galen battle each other for the jewel.
But they are not alone. This book was written in French over 100 years ago, so I expected the writing style to be different. Excellent read. As time goes on the colonists become aware of strange happenings that they cannot explain.
I just re-read The Mysterious Island, and it wasn't as much fun as when I was a kid but it was still a good read. They appear almost superhuman in their personality traits and abilities. It really needed more pages.
What connections do you see with the tv show Lost? I had previously read some of his more popular works like "Around the World in 80 Days," and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," and I loved them. The piece by Carr could have been moved to the end of the book and they only need to strike one sentence from the Verne bio.

I have always enjoyed all of this author's work. people who like adventure stories, stories about castaways, and stories about mysterious islands. In each book we see a little bit more of Droon although the development of the characters is a bit slow. They went down the magical steps to the world of Droon. Retrieve credentials. Verne came really close to crossing the believability line there and it was amusing at times.
In this book the action starts early on. An intriguing lens, excellent job. While they do some interesting things to the kids to complete their quest, it's not as inventive as some of the other books in the series.

your review is so good , balanced. The four stranded technology wizards recreate the industrial revolution from scatch among the pristine tropical paradise. The one that apparently everyone doesn't like. I took great care not to learn in advance what made the island so mysterious or really, anything about the plot at all. They get on a boat and they see a sea serpent and it chases them.
Based on the true story of Alexander Selkirk, who survived alone for almost five years on an uninhabited island off the coast of Chile, The Mysterious Island is considered by many to be Jules Verne’s masterpiece. If you love steampunk, you owe it to yourself to read Jules Verne. This book is so racist and boring. This is one of those I'd only heard about before. I would still give it 5 stars though, for the memories and feeling of adventure it brought to my life. Houdini would be proud.
