Twists and turns, a little bit creepy - this is a cracking read! Lunches with expensive wine, shared secrets, long conversations, and even girls vacations... Kat and Alice have an amazing friendship.

But, in the wake of tragedy and betrayal during their teenage years, everything changed. This book was not for me, I tried on many occasions to read it, but was unable to continue. The characters were mostly believable, and the scenes from the girls' childhoods were detailed and well written. GERT-AND-CHASE! At the same time she was so self-absorbed and focussed on all the things that had gone wrong in her life that she was completely incapable of realising that Val hadn't exactly had a happy life either - because oh, she's thin and pretty, everything must be perfect for her, not like pooor meeeee, people at school called me faaat, waaah. And will the Runaways' greatest foe be...well-meaning outsiders who want to help them?! [Also, I've been a die-hard Nico/Karo shipper for over a decade, so to see them finally get together on the page the way I did in the show was good for my heart. I halfway hoped there would be bigger, more long-term developments in this se, Runaways is clearly Marvel trying to snag that book-hungry YA audience, but at least they're selling out in an enjoyable manner. Nothing earthshaking is going on here, but I like these characters, and it makes me happy to read about them hanging out with each other. Nothing much at all happens, actually, besides some personal growth and Molly being tempted to remain a 13-year-old forever.

An accident?

Besides being totally far-fetched and starring the usual overweight pathetic girl, the secondary plot was a disturbing love story.

And people who fall in love. Start by marking “Runaways, Vol. Plus this is the guy who is easily convinced that her brain-damaged brother is the one who committed the crime because some random person says the brother stole stuff from lockers in high school? Vicky entered her home, took over Anna's duties, both kids and husband. I was actually glad when it finally reached its (very predictable) close. But this book pushed the limits of what I am willing to tolerate, even if it's hot as hell outside, and I'm just looking for something easy. But while this is also very good, that isn't what Runaways is doing. First, let me say that I am all for having a category of books that is good to read on the beach.

That ending??? I liked it a lot.
