The construction of a sports stadium for the University of Akron began in 1939 in the southeastern part of Akron, Ohio. Two years later, the university removed the real grass that covered the playing field and replaced it with an artificial surface. Plans for building a new stadium had been announced a year before the final football match took place. A new chapter in the history of the Akron Zips football program began in 2009 with their move into Infocision Stadium. The civil suit, filed in Summit Common Pleas Court, lists several defendants, including HNTB Ohio,Inc., Welty Building Company LTD, and Parsons Concrete Contractors Inc. The stadium opened in 2010 and has hosted Mexican national team matches as well as serving as the home of Chivas. The lawsuit claims poor design, failed oversight and construction deficiencies will cost the university $1 million to fix.
